John Paul 2 High Chapters Updated

I finally got around to updating the sample chapters on John Paul 2 High to the new revised chapters. Thanks to some of your feedback, we caught more typos. So the new (and hopefully final!) version of Chapter One is up.

Thanks again to all of you who rated it. If you want to rate the new chapters, go ahead, just add "rated before" in the comments section. Thanks!

And if you want to look around carefully for a link to Chapter Two and maybe even Chapter Three... I put up a new hidden link to each one.

Secret Door Alert! Happy Hunting!

  1. I found a typo the first chapter of the "JP2" series. When George says, "I scratched your bumper??"

  2. Thanks! But that's actually not a typo. There are supposed to be two question marks. (I know, it's not grammatically correct, but I guess there's more leeway in trendy teen books these days...)

  3. Thanks to some of you who caught typos and emailed me via the feedback form! I fixed them! (What would I do without you all?)

  4. I got into John Paul 2 High!
Wow! That was so cool! I was looking for chapters two and three but stumbled upon the school instead.
Can't wait for these books! Btw, do you by any chance have a specific date in September when these will be released? Thanks!
    God bless,
    Mae
P.S. I'm not giving up my chapter search...

  5. Thanks Mae! I wish I had a definite date. Don't worry, as soon as I know, I'll be email blasting everyone on my list about it (and posting it here!). Unlike my books, I am pretty sure that you *will* be able to pre-order John Paul 2 High.

BTW I'm currently working with the writers of Books 3 and 4 in the series, and I have to say, those books are looking pretty good!

  11. About a release date for John Paul 2 High: as soon as I have one, I will post it EVERYWHERE!

About a second generation of Denniston/Brier adventures: I've no idea - yet! Pray, and wait and see!

  12. Aghhh!!! It is driving me crazy. I cannot find even the second chapter of the John Paul 2 series let alone the third. Is it possibly on the first chapter page??? Also, as i was scouring the chapter for the secret door, i found a typo: "He glanced at thepublic school building wistfully..."

  13. I was wondering if you could give a clue on where to find one or both of the secret doors, I looked everywhere, I even read the first chapter 3 times carefully looking!
    Thanks!

  14. What you need to do is run your cursor over each word in the chapter. When you find it your cursor will change into that little hand thingy. Hope that helps!

  15. I noticed a typo on the first chapter. When George "glanced at thepublic school buildings..."
Can't wait for these books! God bless!

  16. I just found chapter two (Anonymous, thanks for the tip)and I thought it was great! I hope the book will be released in early October? And do you mind my asking approximately how many pages the book is going to be?
God bless the writer (and the editor!) of John Paul 2 - excuse me - John Paul II High!
    ~Mae
P.S. A Halloween Dance showdown? Sounds exciting!

  17. BTW Thanks anonymous for posting the tip! Saved me some time!

I don't know yet *when* the book will be released. Like I said, pray for smooth sailing!

But since I did just have the the typeset manuscript open -- Hmmm -- I can tell you that right now the book is going to be about 248 pages long. It may end up slightly longer or shorter, depending on the font, plus any extra pages they add for copyright, extra pictures, etc.

And I personally think the Halloween showdown is a pretty cool scene -- though I think that guys might possibly enjoy it more than girls. One challenge in writing it was to make the scene fun for girls as well -- and I think Christian Frank did a great job.

  18. BTW thanks to those of you who posted typos! They're fixed in the manuscript - but not on the website - yet!

  19. I was wondering if all three John Paul II books would be released within a few months of each other or if it will be a couple of years before the final book comes out. After a long, AGONIZING search, i finally found all three chapters and can't wait for the first book. Thanks!

  20. The plan is to release three books a year. Whether or not that will happen depends on lots of things. That's why we're writing several books at once. If all goes well, we could have Book 2 out by, say, March.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Oh, but the second book won't be published if the first book doesn't sell *really* well. So... tell all your friends and your local parish youth group and your local Catholic bookstores and local Catholic schools to buy the book! (We're offering Book Club notes for each book so that classes and youth groups can use them for group activities.)

  22. Thanks for the tip about the curser, I did that, twice and slowly also, and still didn't find it. Oh well, I guess I'll have to wait! :o)

    ReplyDelete
  23. Your welcome. :) I'd tell you exactly where the door is... but thats no fun!

  24. Ooooh! I just saw the rough cover for John Paul II High on Smallpax. Boy, it looks really neat! I thought it would be green and black (why, I don't know) but I like this cover a whole lot. Is that supposed to be George and Allie on the front? I'm so excited!
    God bless,
    ~Mae
    P.S. 248 pages?!? Yahoo!

    ReplyDelete
  25. Could you maybe tell me if it is in the beginning, middle or end of the chapter? Thanks for all your help!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Thanks Mae! The publisher wasn't crazy about the green and black cover and made us change it. The website will be changing too. Yes, that's George and Allie on the front!

    ReplyDelete
  27. Beginning : ) VERY beginning.

  28. The secret door is so close to the top of the chapter you hardly have to scroll down. It could be very hard to miss, so go very slowly. Hope this helps! Good luck!

  29. Okay, how about some hints on the secret door to chapter 3??? My mind completely goed blank when I try to figure out these kinds of things. (Example hint: top chapter 2; bottom chapter 1; So and so said... just kidding!!!)

    Like the first two chapeters!!!

    ReplyDelete
  30. How about this hint? A friend of mine mentioned how my sister found the third chapter in some of the earlier posts. :)

    ReplyDelete
  31. Ha, ha! If you mean typing it in on the end of the web address, I already did that. Is there an actual Secret Door for chapter 3?
    Thanks!

Hear ye! Hear ye! There is a SECRET DOOR to CHAPTER Two inside THIS blog, entitled "John Paul 2 Chapters Updated"!!! Read ye now the riddle bleow, and see if ye can find it!

"When does a why sound like the tail end of me?
Say the correct word, and thou shall see.
'Tis only one letter, at the end of a word,
'Tis never silent, 'tis always heard.
Look ye around, search ye carefully.
(Check line number 1 in paragraph 3.)
When thou findest the door, do not tell anyone else,
Let them findest the secret passage themselves."

Merry Hunting! ('Tis hunting season, thou know, but if it pleasest thou, do not shoot any-person, or thing, on this hunt.)

Fare Thee well! I leave thee now,
    Lady "Rose"

(A.K.A. A poet who knows it)

Post Script: All words of the royal riddle are spelt correctly, I can not speaketh for the rest.

Post Post Script: Without reavealing the location of the Hidden Passageway, lettest me know if the riddle was hard or if 'twas easy.

  33. Aww! I just found the secret door (Thanks for the clue amanda aka rose!)and now I'm dying to find the third chapter!! I can't find it!!
And btw REgina, I really liked the second chapter and the final version of the first chapter. The first chapter is so much better now then before!

  34. Regina, you said the website for John Paul 2 High would be changing soon to go with the new cover. Any idea when?

    ReplyDelete
  35. Wow.... that one was REALLY obvious... once you know where it is.

    ReplyDelete
  36. what, the secret door for the third chapter? I just don't knwo where to look!! i guess the second one was pretty easy once you woke up lol

    ReplyDelete
  37. lol! just read the earlier comments on this comment... board... thing... :)

    ReplyDelete
  38. I found it!!!!!

Thank you so much! Rereading the riddle, it is rather obvious, but thanks a ton!

Regina, I loved it! It was so cool! I really liked the part where Mr. Costain says, 'God created order, but the devil invented bureaucracies.' So funny! And true!

I found chapter two by sheer chance. I think my guardian angel finally took pity on me and guided my hand over the link.

I see what you and the others meant by finding by yourself, it's so much more fun that way! I screamed for about two minuiets. But I know I never would have found it were it not for Amanda a.k.a.'Rose', so huge thanks to her and everyone.

You must have had a laugh, Regina, watching us girls scurry all over the site, then collasping in tears at your feet when all the while it was right under our nose.

So, for anyone else like me, and are uttterly clueless, listen carefully to Amanda's words.

    Good luck!

    Grace

p.s. Regina, pass my praise along to the author. He writes wonderfully! I am so going to my bookstore and talking them in to ordering it. All the other Catholic/Christian fiction for teens they have is rubbish.

God's blessing on you and your baby, as well!
